The Sir George Hotel is a beautifully restored heritage property in the historic village of Jugiong, renowned for its exceptional dining, boutique accommodation and relaxed country charm. We combine contemporary hospitality with old-world character, offering guests an unforgettable regional experience.

We're looking for a skilled and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team and uphold our commitment to exceptional food quality and service. This is a full-time, ongoing position based in Jugiong, NSW. You will plan and organise the preparation and cooking of food in our dining establishment.

What you'll do

• Plan menus, estimate food and labour costs, and order food supplies
• Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
• Prepare and cook food
• Discuss food preparation issues with managers, dietitians, and kitchen and waiting staff
• Demonstrate techniques and advise on cooking procedures
• Explain and enforce hygiene regulations
• Select and train staff, as required
• Freeze and preserve foods, as required

About you

• A minimum of 3 years' experience as a qualified Chef in a high-quality dining or catering environment
• A strong understanding of modern Australian cuisine and seasonal menu planning
• The ability to work effectively under pressure and lead a kitchen team
• Excellent food presentation skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• The ability to manage food costs and minimise waste
• A high level of spoken and written English, so you can communicate effectively with staff, suppliers and customers

Qualifications

• An AQF associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Commercial Cookery, Culinary Arts or a related field; or
• At least three years of relevant experience, which may substitute for formal qualifications
• Additional on-the-job training or relevant culinary certifications may be required
