About Tummy Topper

Tummy Topper is a hospitality business offering food, desserts and beverages. Our daily operations bring together product preparation, customer service, takeaway orders and stock management. We value reliable service, consistent product quality and a well-organised workplace.

About the role

We are looking for a Hospitality and Service Manager to lead the team and manage the detail that keeps the business running smoothly. This is a full-time role in Rockbank, with superannuation on top of your salary. You will organise and oversee the daily operations of Tummy Topper, supervise staff, manage purchasing and stock, monitor sales and expenses, and maintain customer service standards. Working with the owner and the preparation team, you will plan staffing and stock around customer demand, resolve operational issues and help improve the performance of the business.

What you'll do

  • Manage daily retail operations, coordinate opening and closing procedures, and make sure the customer service and product display areas are clean, organised and ready for trade.
  • Review the range of food, desserts and beverages with the owner, using sales patterns and customer feedback to guide product availability and promotional decisions.
  • Plan stock levels and place orders for ingredients, beverages, packaging and other supplies to meet demand and avoid shortages or overstocking.
  • Coordinate suppliers and deliveries, check quantities and product condition, and resolve discrepancies in orders, invoices or supply arrangements.
  • Monitor stock rotation, storage and expiry dates, coordinate stocktakes and review wastage to maintain product quality and control costs.
  • Review product pricing, purchasing costs and sales margins with the owner, implement approved changes and keep prices consistent across menus and ordering systems.
  • Plan and implement approved promotions, product displays and marketing activities, and review their effect on customer demand and sales.
  • Manage staff selection, induction, training and supervision, prepare rosters and allocate duties to maintain service during busy periods.
  • Set customer service standards, coordinate counter, takeaway and delivery order workflows, and resolve customer enquiries, complaints and order issues.
  • Maintain sales and stock records, review daily takings, reconcile cash and electronic payments, and investigate transaction discrepancies.
  • Prepare operating budgets with the owner, monitor staffing costs and other expenses, and report on sales trends, wastage and business performance.
  • Oversee food hygiene, cleaning and workplace safety procedures, maintain staff awareness and arrange action on equipment faults, hazards or service issues.

About you

You are approachable, dependable and comfortable taking responsibility for daily operations. You can lead a team, respond to customer concerns and make practical decisions about staffing, stock and service. You take pride in an organised workplace and understand the importance of maintaining quality while managing costs.

Skills and competencies

  • Practical understanding of retail operations within a food, dessert or beverage business.
  • Ability to manage purchasing, stock rotation and wastage while maintaining product availability.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to train staff, delegate tasks and maintain service standards.
  • Confidence using point-of-sale systems, sales reports and stock records.
  • Ability to monitor costs and margins and explain business performance clearly to the owner.
  • Good organisational skills and a calm approach to managing busy service periods and competing priorities.
  • Clear communication skills and an understanding of food hygiene and safe workplace practices.

Qualifications and experience

  • An AQF Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree in Retail Management, Business, Hospitality Management or a related field, or at least three years of relevant experience in place of the formal qualification.
  • Two to three years of relevant Hospitality and Service Manager, retail management or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience with staff rostering, supplier coordination, stock control and sales reporting will be well regarded.
  • Experience in a food retail, takeaway, dessert or beverage business will be well regarded.

Why join Tummy Topper

This role offers the opportunity to take responsibility for daily operations and contribute to the performance of a food, dessert and beverage business. You will work closely with the owner, support the team and help deliver consistent service to customers.
