Truck Driver

About the role

We are a family-owned business that has been operating for more than 5 years, with a dedicated team that thrives on providing the best service and products to our customers. We are looking for a Truck Driver to join us in Mackay on a full-time basis (38 hours per week). The salary is $80,000 per year plus superannuation.

What you'll do

• Operate a truck or delivery vehicle safely and in line with all traffic laws and regulations.
• Transport goods to and from specified locations according to schedule.
• Inspect and verify goods before departure and on arrival.
• Carry out routine pre-start checks and maintenance on the truck, including oil changes, tyre checks and brake inspections.
• Report any mechanical issues or vehicle malfunctions to the managers.
• Keep the vehicle clean and in good working order.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to keep yourself, other road users and the goods safe.
• Comply with federal and state regulations, including those for hazardous materials where applicable.
• Communicate effectively with customers and handle any issues or concerns professionally.
• Handle goods properly to prevent damage and provide excellent service.
• Complete and submit all necessary documents, including proof of delivery, inspection reports and incident reports.
• Assist with loading and unloading goods.
• Work with dispatchers and other team members to keep operations running efficiently.

About you

• Year 12 as a minimum qualification, completed in Australia or overseas.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• At least 12 months of driving experience, in Australia or overseas.
• A valid driver licence with a clean driving record.
• Strong driving skills and knowledge of road safety regulations.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic mechanical knowledge to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ability to handle physical tasks, including loading and unloading goods and lifting and moving heavy objects.
• Comfortable with prolonged periods of sitting while driving and occasional exposure to adverse weather.

Work environment

• The role is primarily on the road, and may also include loading docks and customer sites.
• Hours may be irregular, including nights, weekends and holidays.
