About us

Terranova is based in Hurstville Grove and has been operating for over 35 years, providing horticultural maintenance and landscaping services to high-end strata properties. These range from small boutique buildings to some of Sydney's largest and most prestigious strata complexes.

About the role

Due to expansion, we are looking for two experienced Landscape Gardeners to join our small, friendly garden and maintenance team on a permanent full-time basis (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday). You will have a genuine interest in the work, a good attitude and a willingness to grow your horticultural career. Most of the properties we service are in Sydney's inner city and southern areas.

What you'll do

  • Plan garden landscapes, prepare drawings and choose plants for each project
  • Construct landscapes and install structures where required
  • Organise gravel and mulch areas, walls and ponds
  • Replenish soil and mulch and install drip irrigation
  • Prepare lawn areas by spreading topsoil and planting grass, or laying instant turf
  • Shape tree branches using chainsaws and handsaws
  • Spray and dust plants and trees to control insects and disease

About you

Qualifications: Certificate III in Landscape Construction, Horticulture or equivalent. Significant work experience may substitute for a formal qualification.

Essentials

  • Current driver's licence to drive an automatic ute, with a good driving record and a careful, experienced approach
  • Minimum 3 years of practical experience
  • Proficiency in the use of power gardening equipment
  • WHS White Card (or willingness to obtain one), with awareness of safety procedures at all times
  • A responsible, positive attitude and enthusiasm for the role
  • Good attention to detail
  • A high level of physical fitness
  • A good work ethic: punctual, reliable and honest
  • Excellent time management and the ability to work to a schedule
  • A friendly, outgoing manner and the ability to communicate with onsite contacts and Building Managers

Desirable

  • Good plant knowledge and identification skills
  • Familiarity with the operation and planning of irrigation systems, or a willingness to learn
  • Experience in soft landscape installations
  • Experience working with large-scale properties
  • The ability to adapt to a high-paced environment at times, as several buildings are often serviced in the same day
  • Any other relevant certificates or accreditation

Pay and benefits

  • Career development: the opportunity to grow and progress, suiting someone with career advancement in mind
  • Work-life balance: Monday to Friday work days with consistent hours
  • Competitive pay rates for the right person, paid weekly
  • A great small-team work culture
